In Transit
In the spring of 2025, I went on a family trip to London. There, I had the chance to try out my newly bought X100VI and its fantastic film simulations. The small size of the camera also helped me capture more personal shots of this hustling and bustling city.
With a mix of images taken using slow shutter speeds and sharp stills, this photographic series aims to reflect the constant physical movement of the city, as well as the psychological motion of its people. Who are they? Are they commuting to work, or simply passing time? Where are they going and where have they come from? Why are they sitting like that? What are they feeling? Were they just in a conversation, or lost in thought? Did someone hurt them or are they waiting for someone who never arrived?
One can interpret a lot into these pictures but the real reasons behind what people are doing remain unknown. The subjects in each frame should always be viewed in the context of their surroundings. A person is always a reflection of the place they are in and the society they either belong to, or don’t.
In a way, this series also became a personal outlet, representing the recent, quite turbulent weeks of my own life. The motion and stillness, the questions without answers they’re not only part of the city, but of myself as well.
Enjoy, and immerse yourself in the images. Take care.
